FAQ

Where are you located?
I am in a shared suite with Hypno Health Solutions in the Greenwich Professional Center on Greenwich Road in Virginia Beach, VA. I also provide a hybrid model where we can schedule virtual sessions.
What are your hours of operation?
My hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 9 pm. In-person sessions end at 7 pm; however, virtual sessions are during any open hours. Weekends are by appointment only.
How long are your sessions?
Sessions can be as short as half an hour or up to an hour. The initial evaluation is a little longer because of the information that needs to be gathered. Expect one and one-half hours for an assessment.
How do I schedule an appointment?

Please call or text me at (667) 299-6185 or email admin@cswservices.org for a free consultation to determine your needs and whether we would be a good fit. We will then review our schedules and agree on a time that works for both of us.

What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if there are any cancellations. Of course, life happens. Contact me if you are experiencing unexpected situations beyond your control, and we can devise a plan.
What age ranges do you work with?
I typically work with adults of all ages and stages of life. I will make exceptions for some youth, specifically teens, but this is indeed based on their presenting challenges and symptoms.
What populations do you service?
I work with men, women, couples, and individuals in the LGBTQ+ community. I do not limit my practice to one sect of individuals. I also can meet with groups.
Do you provide assignments during treatment?

Although assignments are not a requirement in treatment, sometimes I give what I call ‘live-out homework.’ This type of homework is not sitting at the kitchen table and writing homework; instead, it is a form of homework that you get out into the real world and live out what has been discussed in the session to see if it works. The success or lack of success regarding these assignments will be explored at the next session.

What treatment modality do you regularly use?
I do not subscribe to one treatment modality as I work with various populations. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is an evidence-based and reliable treatment that spans multiple conditions and disorders. Sometimes, we explore other modalities as part of the treatment process; however, I don’t want you to worry about those issues. Come along for the ride with me, and let’s explore.
What do I need to bring to the therapy session?
You need to bring your whole and authentic self. Do not feel that you need to “fake the funk,” meaning act as if everything is alright. Sometimes, things are not okay, which is okay with me. While we begin the therapeutic journey, bring your thoughts and feelings – sometimes your homework. Your feelings are safe here.
What experience do you have in the field of social work?
I think this question suits me well because I have a host of experiences. I’ve worked in homes, schools, child welfare, forensics, and hospitals. Throughout this long journey, I’ve worked part-time periodically as a therapist for almost 20 years. I opened my private practice in 2021 and am eager to continue this process working with you. Last year, from April 2023 to July 2024, I worked as a Travel Social Worker and had the opportunity to work in many states throughout the country.
Do you know any other languages?

Yes, I am fluent in American Sign Language; however, I am not certified. I am a little rusty, as I recently moved to my new city after living in Baltimore, Maryland, where I had a community. So, I don’t have much community here to practice the language in.

I will only see any clients from the deaf and hard of hearing community for in-person sessions as virtual sessions would limit the ability to effectively work.

Do you like football, basketball, or baseball?

I’ve never been to a basketball game, but I love the environment of baseball games. Honestly, I am a football man. Lately, I feel like a man without a home because of my unorthodox journey to the sport.

I began intently liking football when my cousin got drafted years ago. Then, I moved to Baltimore, which was one of their rivals. I spent 16 years there and could not root for the Ravens, so I drifted to college football. I feel like I’m coming full circle now, though, because I loved Lamar Jackson when he was at Louisville, and he has been with the Ravens for some time.
