About Therapy

1197617575Clients seek therapy for many reasons.

Although CSW Services works with a host of populations, it is vitally important to understand that we all come with something that we need to address.

When clients walk through the door, I can provide them with a list of struggles and challenges that previous clients have faced. However, one common theme is that we all seek a happier and more fulfilling life.

Working with CSW Services in whatever capacity gives you the skills and tools necessary to tackle sometimes impossible issues.

Reaching out is the first step.

To achieve the success you seek in this therapeutic engagement, the first piece of the puzzle is acknowledging that you need help beyond your current abilities. So, take this time to pat yourself on the back and tell yourself, “Yes, I did it.”

What did you do? You are reading this website, right? You are researching if it is a good fit for you, correct? These are the beginning moments that will provide you with what you need to find success in therapy.

Just know that, despite how much time you spend in session, real work happens in the real world. You live with yourself 100% of the day, so you will know what is doable and what is not.

We will work as a team to determine what works or if we need to return to the drawing board and try something new.

Here is a safe space to push beyond boundaries.

When working with me, you will be provided with a safe and caring space that follows you through the struggles and challenges that have caused you distress.

I will encourage you to go places you may have never gone before, do things that may seem slightly unorthodox, and truly push the boundaries because work occurs in the push. There may be moments when it will be uncomfortable. Lean into discomfort because there is growth in the challenge.

This is a judgment-free space and a light and relaxing environment. This work is challenging, and it is essential that you feel connected with your therapist, so I will be sure to consider what non-verbal cues may be arising in the session to address your needs.

During our time together, I will also always be 100% honest with you. I am caring and compassionate yet firm and direct. I will not allow you to tell me 1 + 1 = 7. I will directly and respectfully point out the obvious while helping you explore the nuances of the inaccurate statement.

About Ray Smith, LCSW, QCSW

AdminLet’s look at what I bring to therapy.

I have been in the field for over 25 years and received my graduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh with an LCSW and QCSW. Blah, Blah, Blah! But those things aren’t as vital as me sharing with you what I bring.

As you can see from my pictures, I am very optimistic and happy. I bring this same spirit to the therapeutic process. I strongly believe in healing through humor, so I laugh and help things seem organic in the session.

My office is small, quaint, warm, and cozy. It always has an effervescent, calming scent that relaxes the room. You can sit on the couch or in a comfortable chair, and we will casually discuss the week’s challenges.

You are the driver of your ship, the master of your life. Please think of me as a passenger in your car, taking directions as you guide each week on how we need to address your treatment needs. Let’s take this trip together!
